Castelli Romani: Restaurants & Wine Region

Genzano, Nemi & two bathing lakes & the nearby sea

Genzano di Roma, nestled in the heart of the Castelli Romani, has a medieval town center. The town is dominated by the imposing Sforza Cesarini Ducal Palace, with a beautiful, enchanting, and romantic English garden, which can be visited on guided tours. Genzano lies on the mythical Lake Nemi. Nemi stands picturesquely on the hillside above the blue crater lake Lago di Nemi, formed by steep forest slopes. Enjoy the virtually traffic-free town of Nemi and the beautiful view of the lake, Genzano di Roma, and the sea. Castel Gandolfo & Ariccia & Lanuvio

Ariccia, Lanuvio, and Castel Gandolfo are just a few kilometers from Genzano. In Ariccia, visit the majestic Palazzo Chigi and the Chiesa dell'Assunta, architectural masterpieces of Baroque art and the Bernini school. Grottaferrata, Frascati, and Rocca di Papa are a little further away from Genzano. Grottaferrata is home to a beautiful monastery, the Abbazia di Grottaferrata. Frascati is famous for its white wine and its patrician villas, elegant 18th-century palaces that were once home to ancient Roman noble families. Near Frascati, the Tuscolo area is an archaeologically important site with beautiful hiking trails. Castelli Romani: Designer Outlet Villages

The most elegant of Rome's outlets, called Designer Outlet Castel Romano, is located about 20 km from the capital. The second outlet, called Outlet Village Valmontone, is about an hour's drive from Rome. These two outlets, located near the Castelli Romani, feature all the most famous Italian and foreign brands.
